Interactive data visualization tool | Open Government, Government of Canada

[ad_1]

As the Public Service Commission of Canada’s Open Government Champion, I am pleased to share with you a new interactive data visualization tool. It was developed to help public servants and Canadians better understand and interpret the results of the Staffing and Non-Partisanship Survey.

The purpose of the tool is to show the survey results in a clear, efficient and customizable way using graphs and tables.

Users can explore the survey data by first official language, region, organization, etc. using simple drop-down menus.

Since posting the interactive data visualization tool on the GC’s internal website in November, we have had well over 3500 visits. With this in mind, we felt it was time to share outside of the GC. We have uploaded our code, our datasets and the tool itself on the Open Government Portal.

Now that the survey data are available on multiple platforms and in different formats, more people are able access our data.

We would like to thank our colleagues at Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat for their support and collaboration in making our tool available to a broader audience.

The survey data and the visualization tool are available here or on Canada’s Open Data Portal.

The Public Service Commission’s Open Government Secretariat has been in existence since 2017 and consists of a small dedicated team led by Stan Lee, the PSC’s Vice President of Oversight and Investigation and Open Government Champion. The Secretariat is the driving force behind the PSC’s open government program and its activities. The PSC is actively working towards being a leader in Open Government and being more open and transparent to Canadians.
