Purchase a Flat rate box in-store at any one of 60 post office locations. Find a location near you. While only available for purchase at select stores, the boxes can be sent from any post office across Canada. The smallest Flat rate box can even be sent from any street letter box. No need to search for packaging, to measure or calculate shipping rates: if it fits, it ships. Simply pack the Flat rate box without changing its dimensions and ensure its contents are secure to prevent movement during transport. It means that Prohibited Item, Controlled Item, Duty Item or if the Item weight is more then 30kgs can not be consider in the Flat rates of Box .

can I reuse a flat rate shipping box?
I am extremely disappointed to learn that a flat rate box sent by Canada Post does NOT reach its destination in 7 days, as suggested on the box! The fact that the flat rate box I mailed from Guelph on January 10 managed to arrive in Halifax by 3:30 a.m. Jan.13, and yet cannot reach Fox Point in Hubbards until January 19 seems preposterous! Four days to travel 2000 km, and another 4 business days to travel what would at most be 2 hours by car! Surely there can be an improvement in this service! Very disappointing!

Actually, I just discovered this service, and the price is NOT expensive compared to Canada Post’s other rates, and the price includes the box, postage and all. A small parcel I was going to ship by ordinary parcel post in my own packaging was going to cost well over $30 (largely because of weight I presume) … but person I was dealing with kindly pointed out that my parcel would fit into the small flat rate box (with a bunch of crumpled up paper required to keep it from bouncing round in there) which cost only $17.22!
Oops typo! the actual cost was $17.99 …
Horrific experience using these boxes and envelopes! Bought 4 of them at Christmas: one box arrived in 5 days (Vancouver to Calgary), another box took 10 days (Vancouver to Calgary), a third box took 17 days (Vancouver to Halifax) and the fourth expedited envelope got returned to me AFTER 16 days, demanding either that I pay AGAIN to retrieve it OR pay AGAIN to resend it. Taking the latter option, they (unbeknownst to me) used a wrong tracking number (for Amazon!) and now the package is LOST!!!

Helen, if this box was given to you by your friend, and it is unused, no postage is required. Purchasing the box is the postage. Did your friend give you this box in order to send them something? If so your friend actually paid the postage by purchasing the box. Just stuffed a box, be careful don’t go over the weight limit, put your friends address on it, put your return address on it, and drop it off at the post office for delivery.
So Canada Post delivers packages from China for free(?) but the best price we can get is $20…crazy!!
I bought a flatbox, it was marked National on it, do they have one marked Regional. My parcel from AB to BC should be cheaper than AB to QC?
