To access these services, you must sign in to MSCA (My service canada account) and go on the CPP/OAS page.

Apply for Old Age Security (OAS) pension and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)

To apply online, you must:

  • be at least one month past your 64th birthday
  • not be receiving the OAS pension
  • not yet have applied for the OAS pension
  • live in Canada
  • not have a legal representative on your account (for example, someone with power of attorney)

If you can’t apply online:

  • Print and complete the paper form Application for the OAS and the GIS (ISP-3550)
  • Include certified true copies of the required documents
  • Mail the application to Service Canada, or
  • Bring it to a Service Canada Centre and an employee can certify your documents

Apply for your OAS (Old age security) pension and the GIS (Guaranteed Income Supplement) now by signing into or registering for MSCA.

Note: Gather the information you need before you begin. Once you start the application, you can’t save it and continue later. Your session will expire after 20 minutes of inactivity. This time starts when your computer mouse stops moving and resets when it is moved.

Apply for a CPP retirement pension

Apply for your CPP retirement pension now by signing into or registering for MSCA. While applying, you may now:

  • add a federal voluntary tax deduction
  • request to receive your tax slips online, rather than by mail
  • request the child-rearing provision

You will not be able to apply online if:

  • you are not, at least 1 month past your 59th birthday
  • you are receiving a CPP retirement pension
  • you have already applied for the CPP retirement pension and Service Canada is assessing your application
  • you are or were receiving a CPP disability benefit
  • you were receiving a disabled contributor’s child benefit or a surviving child’s benefit
  • you were receiving a benefit that was paid to a designated third party
  • you live outside of Canada
  • you only have QPP contributions
  • you are a CPP and QPP contributor residing in Quebec
  • you have an authorized third party on your account

If any of the above applies to you, you will need to complete the Application for a Canada Pension Plan Retirement Pension. Include certified true copies of the required documentation. You can mail it or bring it to a Service Canada Centre. Mailing addresses are on the form.

Apply for CPP-D benefits

Apply now for your CPP-D Benefits by signing into or registering for MSCA.

To apply online, you must:

  • be over the age of 18 and younger than 66 years
  • have made CPP contributions
  • have a Canadian address

Note: The Online CPP-D Benefits Application lets you save the progress made on your application after each completed section. You can come back to it within 90 days. This allows you to finish your application in multiple sessions.

You will not be able to apply online if:

  • you live in Quebec and have contributed to both the CPP and QPP
  • you are already in pay for CPP-D
  • you do not have a Canadian address
  • your disability benefit was terminated because you returned back to work less than 2 years ago
  • you have a payee on file
  • you are under the control of a trustee

If any of the above applies to you, you will need to complete the Application kit for Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefit (ISP-1151). If you have a terminal illness, you will need to complete the Terminal Illness Application kit for Disability Benefit under the Canada Pension Plan (ISP-2530A). Once you complete the forms, you must mail it to Service Canada. Mailing addresses are on the form.

View estimated CPP benefits

If you have contributed to the CPP, you can view your estimated monthly CPP benefits by selecting Estimated monthly CPP benefits.

View application status

Select Application status to view messages about your CPP, CPP-D or OAS application status.

View payment information

Select Payment information to view payment details. You can print an official proof of payment report of your CPP, CPP-D and OAS benefits. You will be able to view your payment information for the current and last two years.

Note: OAS recipients will only be able to view their most recent payment. Contact OAS for a copy of your past payment information.

Child-rearing provision

If you have applied or are receiving a CPP retirement pension or CPP-D benefit, you may request the child-rearing provision by selecting Request my child-rearing provision.

Federal voluntary tax deduction

To view, start, change or stop a federal voluntary tax deduction, select Federal voluntary tax deductions for CPP/OAS.

Once you have completed the change, you will be able to view your:

  • estimated gross amount
  • federal voluntary tax deduction
  • estimated net monthly payment after deduction

Change banking information

To change your banking information and select the date you want the change to take effect, select Direct deposit.
Once you made the change and received confirmation, you may use the link at the bottom of the page to view your changes right away.

New! You can share your direct deposit banking information between the CPP and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Note: It can take up to 30 days for changes to your banking information to take effect. To ensure your next payment is sent to your new account, give us your new banking information at least 30 days before your payment date.

It is not yet possible to change the information for foreign direct deposit online. To change your direct deposit, contact Canada post to speak with one of our agents over the phone.

Change of address

To change your address and select the effective date, select Address.

Once you made the change and received confirmation, you may use the link at the bottom of the page to view your changes right away.

Telephone number(s)

To view, change or delete your home, work, and mobile telephone numbers, select Telephone number.

Update your name, marital status or date of birth

You can’t make this type of update on MSCA. Contact Canada post by phone to speak with one of our agents. They can tell you how to update this information.

To view, add, change and/or delete an authorized person who has your consent to communicate with Service Canada about your CPP/CPP-D/OAS account, select Give consent for someone to communicate with CPP/OAS on my behalf.

CPP Statement of Contributions printed from MSCA is legal/official documentation

The online printed version of your Statement of Contributions is considered a legal document. You may request to have your Statement of Contributions mailed to you by selecting CPP contributions or by contacting CPP.

Statement of Contributions to the Québec Pension Plan

Your contribution information will be on your CPP Statement of Contributions if:

  • you have contributed to the CPP
  • you have contributed to the Québec Pension Plan (QPP), and
  • you live outside of Québec

You must contact Retraite Québec for a Statement of Participation in the QPP if:

  • you have contributed to the QPP only
  • you have contributed to the CPP and the QPP but currently live in the province of Québec, or
  • you live outside of Canada and your last contribution was made to the QPP
